Who is Tansy?
Painting with industrial materials, glitter and dead insects – my pieces don’t really fit into the box of ‘fine art’. I make confident, arresting artwork with an effective use of a strikingly simple colour palate.
As well as unusual abstracts that are reminiscent of alien landscapes, I create works inspired by the unique waves of different sounds. Pieces from my ‘soundscape’ body of work include a depiction of a meaningful song and a representational piece inspired by the waveform of my husbands snoring.
I’m forever finding inspiration in unusual places and am always open to new art opportunities. If you are interested in exhibiting, collaborating or commissioning some artwork then feel free to get in touch – art@tansyisanartist.com

Soundscapes
I’ve always found inspiration in unexpected places. The first spark of inspiration for this series came one night, whilst I laid awake listening to the sound of my husband’s snoring. I pondered whether it would be possible to paint a sound. I started experimenting and soon discovered the means of capturing the ‘waveform’ of specific sounds. I could take this image of the soundwave and paint it!
From this – ‘Whilst I Lay Sleeping’ was born, followed by a whole series of soundscapes. Each one with a different meaning to me and a variety of materials inspired by the sounds that they are based upon.
If you like the idea of having a painting of your favourite song, your cat’s purr, your child’s laugh of any other meaningful sound captured in a panting, feel free to get in touch via my ‘Contact’ page.

HAts
Millinery is a bit of a passion of mine – I’ve always loved using unusual surfaces to create my art on and I’m enthused by the idea of creating artwork that is not just interactive, but actually wearable. Throw in the excuse to use a whole host of bizarre materials and I was hooked.
I have created several ‘one off’ wearable art hats alongside some pretty spectacular knitted numbers. Get in touch if you’d like to find out more, commission a piece, or are interested in buying one of my bizarre creations.
