Soundscape sculpture - The sound of a local olive mill
This piece is the first instance of one of my soundscape pieces coming to life as a 3D installation. The shape of this work is dictated by the waveform created by the sound of an olive pressing at the Almazara La Flor De La Alpujarra olive mill.
I’ve taken that sound and run it through my software which gives me a unique waveform to then build my work from. My soundscape work is usually paint on canvas, where I take commissions of people’s meaningful sounds and bring them to life as tangible, custom-made paintings.
For our Dentro y Fuera exhibition at La Fábrica, I wanted to create something that would resonate even more with this space. So I have brought the sound of a working olive mill back to the old olive mill of La Fábrica.
